Radix stemonae is sweet, bitter in flavour andslightly warm in nature. It is tropistic to the lung channel. Itssweetness enables moistening and bitterness can send downabnormally asceding Qi. Therefore, it is effective in moisteningthe lung and sending down rebellious Qi, relieving cough andasthma. Its slight warmness can fit to acute or chronic cough andasthma, cold or heat, deficiency or excess in compoundprescriptions. It can also be applied externally to eliminate wormsand insects and relieve itching, as in oxyuriasis andphthiriasis.
Effects:
Moistening the lung and relieving cough, killing worms andinsects, including louse.
Dosage andAdministration:
5-10g. When it isapplied externally, suitable amount is used.
