Macleaya cordata contains severalalkaloids including sanguinarine, chelerythrine, protopine, andallocryptopine.Our product, Macleaya cordata extract mainlyconstains with sanguinarine and chelerythrine.It was been show tobe reversible inhibitors of the enzymatic hydrolysis ofacetylthiocholine.
Itwas reported that a study was made of a possible inhibitory actionon the enzymatic hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine by humanerythrocyte acetylcholinesterase of principal alkaloids isolatedfrom Chelidonium majus L. and Macleaya cordata and microcarpa, andof drugs Ukrain and Sanguirythrine. Among all examined agentsberberine, sanguinarine and Sanguirythrine were the strongestinhibitors of this reaction.Judging from the data obtained,sanguinarine and chelerythrine exert similar inhibitory effects onthe reaction of enzymatic hydrolysis ofacetylthiocholine.
