Many studies have shown Lycium fruits increase the lymphocytetransformation rate and improve the macrophage phagocytic functionin animals. Lycium assists spleen lymphocyte transformation inducedby Concavalin A. Lycium increases the antibody reaction to Tcell-dependant antigen (SRBC) which means that it selectivelystrengthen the T cell immune response, it is believed to be theresult of increasing the number of E receptors on the surface of Tcells or increasing the numbers of T cells directly. Lycium alsocan be used to reduce lead toxicity by inhibiting the reduction ofT cells and delayed allergy activity induced by lead. Besides, in astudy it was showed that after taking Lycium, lysozyme, IgG, IgAand interleukin 2 (IL-2) in serum increased in allparticipants.
