UNS N08810 / UNS N08811 800HT is an iron-nickel-chromium alloyhaving the same basic composition as Alloy 800, with significantlyhigher creep rupture strength. The higher strength results fromclose control of carbon, aluminum and titanium contents inconjunction with a high temp anneal. The 800H modification was tocontrol carbon (0.05 to 0.10%) and grain size to (>ASTM 5) tooptimize stress rupture properties. 800HT has further modificationsto the combined titanium and aluminum levels (0.85 to 1.2%) toensure optimum high temperature properties. The alloy is dualcertified and combines the properties of both forms.
The chemical balance allows the alloy to exhibit excellentresistance to carburization, oxidation and nitriding atmospheres.800HT will not become embrittled even after long periods of usagein the 1200-1600 deg F range where many stainless steels becomebrittle. Excellent cold forming characteristics typicallyassociated with the nickel-chromium alloys are exhibited with800HT. When cold formed extensively the grain size produces avisibly undulated surface called "orange peel". 800HT can be weldedby the common techniques used on stainless steels.

Applications :include ethylene pyrolysis, hydrocarbon cracking, cracking furnacesfor vinyl chloride, diphenol and acetic acid. The alloy is alsoused for valves, fittings and other components exposed to corrosiveattack from 1100 to 1800 deg F.
