Aluminum is the most abundant ofmetals in a mineral called Bauxite. It is non-magnetic, it resistscorrosion, and it has good reflective abilities. It also holds theability to easily be recycled, repurposed, and reused.

 

Smart chairs aren’t justpolished. They’re polished 3 times, by hand. First the individualparts. Then the assemblies. Finally the completed chair. Taking 8hours it total. It’s what gives them their luxurious look. Theyfeel sensual, smooth, almost soft.One customer even told us it waslike climbing into silk sheets. Our polishers werehappy.

 

To give our chairs a brushedfinish, we anodize them. Basically we put them through anelectrolytic process. Through this electrolytic process, thesurface of an aluminum chair transforms from aluminum to aluminumoxide – a super durable finish. Aluminum oxide is next to thehardness of adiamond.          

 

Every inch of each SMART chair ishand brushed in the direction of the aluminum grain. This procedurealone takes years to master and creates a warm, handcraftedfinish.
