Construction
Thecapacitors are filled with oil and are housed in an oval aluminumcasing having an explosion and fire proof system. This system isbased on bulging of the upper deck of the capacitor following aninternal over pressure which disconnect is disconnected from themains before the casing reached it’s limits of over pressurecausing explosion or fire. An increase in the internal pressure iscaused by chem. bical decomposition of polypropylene film in theareas where long and frequent self healing discharge occur e.g. atthe end of the capacitor’s life span or in case of an improper useof the capacitor.
