The Structure:
 Uses  Zinc oxide(1314-13-2) is widely used as anadditive into numerous materials and products including plastics,ceramics, glass, cement,paints, rubber (e.g. car tyres), adhesives,sealants, ferrites, lubricants, ointments, pigments, foods (sourceof Zn nutrient), batteries, fire retardants, etc.
Zinc oxide(1314-13-2) of high purity is required forpharmaceutical, photoconductive, and certain other uses, and ismanufactured by the indirect process.
Less-pure zinc oxide is manufactured by the direct process, bywhich impure zinc oxide is reduced to zinc vapor that is thenburned.
