Brown fused alumina is manufactured in electric arc furnace,using bauxite as raw material. High hardness and toughness, it isan important raw material of abrasive and refractory industries. Itcan be used for belt, ceramic, coated, high-grade, and organicabrasives. 
The product can be used as abrasive and refractory material. Theabrasive tools made by brown fused alumina are suitable forgrinding carbon steel, normal alloy steel, malleable cast iron andhard bronze, etc. Brown fused alumina can also be used for makingfine quality refractory. Brown aluminium oxide has hightoughness. Micro hardness is 1800-2200kg/mm2, abrasive articlesmade of it are suited for grinding metals of high-tensile strengthsuch as steel, annealed malleable iron and hard high-classrefractory products.
