It is easily weldedbySheet metal is available as flat pieces or as a coiled strip.The coils areformed by running a continuous sheet of metal througha roll slitter. Type 304Stainless Steel sheet has a very low carboncontent ( .08 ) With 304L gradematerial having an even lower amountof carbon content ( .03 ) Less carbon =more corrosionresistance.The thickness of the sheet metal is called its gauge. Thegauge of sheetmetal ranges from 30 gauge to about 7 gauge. Thehigher the gauge, the thinnerthe metal. Thicknesses can varysignificantly, although extremely thinthicknesses are consideredfoil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in)are consideredplate.Standard widths are 36", 48", 60" and 72". Standard lengthsare 96” , 120”and 144” with the ability to order longer cut lengthsto size at the time thecoil is being processed.Stainless Steel Sheets corrosive resistant properties make itidealfor a wide variety of applications. It is easily welded by mostcommercialprocesses with the exception of forging. Idealapplications for stainless sheetinclude, but not limited to, theprocessing of food and beverage products aswell as, dairy products, beef products and poultry products. Also, highacidityapplications such as citric acid and nitric acid are commonwith stainless sheetproducts. The food processing industry reliesheavily on stainless sheetproducts for its sanitation propertiesand ease of cleaning.
