Disc thickener is mainly used forwashing and thickening the lowconsistency pulping during the papermaking process. Its working principle is to dewater by gravitythrough the level difference between pulp out of disc wireand white water in the disc. The pulp inlet consistency is0.8-1.2% enters the pulp tank and attached tosectored disc. The white water in the disc flows to theends of hollow shaft through guide slot and then discharges out.The pulp attached on sectored disc is knocked offby high-pressure shower. The output consistency is3-6% when the level position higher than adjustingvalve plate then overflow into pulp tank thendischarged out. The pulp outlet consistency and productioncapacity can be adjusted according to the main shaftrunning speed.

Due to the structure of sectored disc, thefiltering area is large, allowing filtrating large amount of whitewater when operating.
The consistency of white water filtrated is lower ifcompared with the consistency by the normalcylinder wire thickener.
