The Pathfinder Digital HMD Scanner utilizes the latestmicroprocessor technology to ensure precise reliable detection suchas experienced on furnace exits, run-out table and coolingbeds.

Whereas old style HMD’s purely detect the hot product abovepre-set thresholds, the PATHFINDER operates by microprocessorcomparison of the background and hot product signal. Neither statichot scale or steam and water in the field of view causes falsetriggering or loss of detection.

While static analog HMD’s utilize single diode detection andRotary Scanners incorporate rotating mirrors, the PATHFINDERutilizes a digitally scanned InGaAs Photodiode Array. This newtechnology removes the maintenance associated with Rotary Scannersyet provides the high reliability and accuracy associated withScanners.

Microprocessor technology provides exceptionally fast andaccurate detection of Rod or Strip leading/trailing edge where widevariations of IR signal are present. Response times are digitallyadjusted by external switches. To assist in alignment, productionpath is duplicated by an 10 LED Array Bar Display which is alsoused to indicate adjustments to precise values.
