Graphite electrodes are made from coal tar, coal tar pitch, andpetroleum coke with the process of mixing,forming,baking,impregnating,graphitizing and machining.

Graphite electrodes are used mainly in electric arc furnacesteel production. They are presently the only products availablethat have the high levels of electrical conductivity and thecapability of sustaining the extremely high levels of heatgenerated in this demanding environment. Graphite electrodes arealso used to refine steel in ladle furnaces and in other smeltingprocesses
