Calcium bromide is used in two main applications – clear brinefluids in oil & gas as an oxidizer fmercury emissionscontrol.In upstream oil gas, calcium bromide is used to controlwellbore pressures during completion workover operations. Inmercury emissions control, calcium bromide is sprayed on the coalprito combustion when the coal is burned the calcium bromide breaksdown reacts with elemental mercury to form ionic species of mercurythat can be captured by downstream pollution control equipment.
