Phosphonate PBTC

Description

PBTC is a 50% active aqueous solution of 2-phosphonobutane-1, 2,4-tricarboxylic acid. It acts as a crystal modifying agent andthreshold inhibitor for calcium and other metal salts. PBTC iswidely used in industry as a sequestering agent and calciumcarbonate scale inhibitor. In systems that utilize oxidizingmicrobiocides, such as chlorine and bromine, PBTC exhibits superiorstability under oxidizing conditions compared to otherorganophosphonate compounds.

Packaging and Handling

PBTC is a water soluble acidic liquid packaged in non-returnabledrums. Like all aqueous solutions, PBTC may freeze if exposed tovery low temperatures. Store where the temperature stays above 0°C(32°F). Should the product freeze, store it in a warm area untilcompletely thawed. Keep container closed when not in use.
