SCREW DRIVING:

1. Before starting to screw. Drill a pilot hole in the material.

2. When using screws to fasten wood. Drill a pilot hole 2/3 the diameter of the screw. When working with hardwood. Drill a pilot hole the full depth of the screw. For soft woods. only drill 2/3 of the depth. (Softer wood requires more thread engagement. Hence full pilot hole depth should not be done.)

3. If needed. Drill a hole the same diameter as the screw shank through the top piece of wood for clearance.

4. If needed. Drill a hole the same diameter as the screw head to countersink the screw.

5. Use firm pressure and drill straight or level when using.
