Specifications:
Many computer systems use a UPS to protect the system from power failure and data loss. Actually, the UPS can only provide limited battery??backup. When power failure occurs, someone has to shut down the system, or there would be a possibility of abnormal power shutdown and operating system corruption.
Xbmon is a UPS monitor utility, which detects the status of the UPS??through S232 port. When a??power??failure occurs, Xbmon gets the failure signal and sends out warning messages. When a preset time is reached, Xbmon will try to close all the applications, shut down Windows and turn off the UPS power. If the UPS goes into a battery low condition, Xbmon will shut down the system immediately. If power is restored after UPS shutdown, the UPS turns the PC power back on which then goes through its normal bootup procedure. If power is recovered during the timeout period, Xbmon will send out a power restored message as the system continues operation. The intelligent Xbmon not only supports the status of AC power and battery condition, but also displays other real time UPS data on the screen by the communication with UPS. Users can see the UPS power?? supply voltage, loading, frequency and the temperature. Xbmon also supports scheduling, allowing users to set up the schedule of the weekly and special times for UPS to turn on/off by itself.
