Copper-clad aluminum wire is an excellent value alternative to pure copper in many applications. At finer gauges, however, we also offer an aluminum-magnesium alloy wire, permanently bonded to highly conductive copper (CCA-M) to add strength and durability that any single metal can't match. This CCA-M wire is an excellent solution when high tensile strength and low weight are needed, in applications such as bunched or braided wire for EMI shielding and other uses.
CCA-M is a great value, thanks to its favorable conductivity-to-weight ratio (≥ 58% IACS at only 41% of the density of pure copper). It is easier to handle and install, which reduces labor costs and waste. More pliable than pure copper, without the insulating oxide and breakage susceptibility of pure aluminum, CCA-M electrical connections are more secure and efficient, particularly at the smallest gauges. Fushi Copperweld CCA-M wire also lends itself well to plating in other metals such as tin, silver or nickel for extra adaptability to various applications, especially soldering.
