Self-regulating cable, also referred to as heating tape or self-limiting cable, consists of two parallel bus wires encased in a semi-conductive polymer or "matrix". Carbon particles in the Matrix allow current to flow through the matrix, producing heat. As the temperature rises the polymer expands and density of carbon particles declines, resulting in reduction of electrical current and heat produced.
