The CSR Rockwool story began in 1934 with the opening of CSR Bradford's first Rockwool factory in Australia. CSR has successively set up rockwool plants in Malaysia, China and Thailand. Recent expansion of capacity and elevation of manufacturing technology have further strengthen CSR's leading position in Asia Pacific region. With over 70 years of experience in manufacturing rocwkool, CSR has firmly established a reputation in the hi-tech field of thermal and acoustic insulation and fire protection. CSR maintains a research and development centre dedicated to the continuous improvement and development of new and existing products to meet the ever changing market needs and demands.

CSR Rockwool is made from natural rocks basalt and limestone. The rocks are melted in a cupola at approximately >1450 centigrade, and the molten lava is fiberized by a spinner. The fibers are then coated with a thermosetting binder which bonds the fibers into a mat. The mat is then cut into suitable sizes for ease of handling and installation. Other products such as wired blanket, pipe cover or faced products are produced by secondary processes. Typical densities range from 30kg/m³ ~200kg/m³ . Typical density of CSR Rockwool ranges from 30~200kg/m³ , suitable for insulation of apparatus and installations with operating temperature up to 700 centigrade. Its non-combustibility and high melting point properties and the open fibrous nature also enable it to be widely used in fire protection and acoustic correction.

CSR Rockwool is commonly used in power station, oil & gas and petrochemical plants and industrial areas providing thermal insulation for process temperature control, energy conservation and personnel protection for equipment such as boilers, steam piping, heat exchangers, reactors, ovens, kilns and autoclaves.
