Description
Function: The knock sensor is used to detect knocking condition. In the ECU a knock signal is filtered and analyzed out of the noise spectrum.
Principle: For this purpose a piezo-effect acceleration pick up is used. The body born noise signal from the engine block is transferred to a piezo ceramic ring disc. The disc surface produces a corresponding alternating voltage, which is transferred to the ECU via a shield wire.
