It is usually recommended to change the liner twice a year. Asperities, crackings and dents on the surface prevent the dummy block from functioning properly in time. They also give rise to aluminum’s sticking on the liner surface and some problems about pressure. Improper functioning of the dummy block can trigger many other problems. It is important to hone the surface thoroughly and to perform it on every surface within the same tolerances during the manufacture of liner.
