USB type A to B (host to device) cable. This is the most basic and prolific USB cable, and is used for virtually every USB printer, scanner, and external enclosure on the market.
The type A connector is a flattened rectangle that plugs into downstream port sockets on the USB hub or USB host.
Cables permanently attached to a device, such as on a keyboard or a mouse, use the USB-A style of connector. The USB-B connector, roughly square with two bevelled corners, plugs into upstream sockets on devices and on hubs.
The B-type connector is used only for the device end of a removable device, such as between a hub and a printer. This cable is USB 2.0 compliant.
