PXR1114 Five-Stage Planetary Gearbox The Five-Stage Planetary Gearbox was developed specifically for high torque capability in a small diameter. Originally developed for the Mars Pathfinder Mission to retract the airbags, these robust gearboxes have been used in multiple configurations for planetary, interplanetary, and shuttle missions.
The gear components are made of maraging steel to produce the highest torque capacity for its diameter of any comparable gearbox.
Ball bearings have been used in the first three stages to maximize efficiency.
The transmission has been designed as a freestanding unit that allow for modular combinations of motors and transmissions to easily adapt the assembly to each and every application. | |
