The new re-organized KCC certification system has been introduced since 24th of January 2011. According to the new system, there are three types of certification classification as follows;
 
▶ Conformity Certification for RF devices and Telecommunication Terminal Equipment
    types.
    Certification is issued by RRA within 5 working days after application is made.
 
▶ Conformity Registration for ITE products such as PC and peripherals.
    Registration is submitted online by designated testing labs. For devices with limited
    usage in specific industries, Conformity Registration can be made via self test.
 
▶ Interim Certificate for a new innovative device of which conforming technical standards
    are not provided yet. Certificate is issued by RRA for a limited term.
Starting January 24th, 2011, the KC mark replaced the KCC logo, with a transition time that ended on June 30th, 2011. Therefore, the KCC mark is now no longer permissible for use on the electrical products falling under Radiowave Act, and KC logo and approval code must be on the unit and shipment package under new KCC rule.
The approval code has up to 23 characters and the format for the code is as follows:

KCC-VWX-ABC-XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

⊙ KCC stands for Korea Communications Commission
⊙ V is the certification category: ① C(Certification) ② R(Registration) ③ I(Interim)
⊙ W is the testing category: ① R(Radio) ② T(wired telecom) ③ E(electromagnetic ④ M(Multi)
⊙ X is the applicant type: ① M(Manufacturer ② I(importer) ③ S(Seller)
⊙ ABC is the 3-character company ID
⊙ XX… is fourteen-character maximum product code, which is assigned by the applicant within 14 
   characters and composed of English letters and Arabic numerals, or combination thereof including
   hyphens.
