IV. Feature:
Nonflammable, Dichloromethane is one of the common industrial solvents with low toxicity, incombustibility, low boiling point and excellent solubility for many resins, paraffin and fat. Slightly soluble in water and easily soluble in other chlorinated solvents, diethyl ether and ethanol, it will take on hydrolysis reaction with water at certain temperature. The commodity dichloromethane contains stabilizer to prevent degrading.
V. Applications
Dichloromethane can be expansively applied in organic solvents, release agents, foaming agents, cleaning agents, suffocating, degreasing, refrigerants, etc. including:
- It can be used as polycarbonate, paints solvent, as it has strong solvent power and low toxicity.
- Dichloromethane can be used for films producing too. It’s about 50% of it are used for films producing.
- In pharmacy industry, it can be used as the reaction intermediates, used for making ampicillin, carbenicillin, about 20% of it are used for pharmacy.
- It can also been used for producing solvent, petroleum dewaxing solvent, aerosol propellant and so on.
