Itaú Microcredit is one of the segments that best reflects our role as a catalyst for transforming society, as it operates in underprivileged areas, providing loans to borrowers with little or no access to traditional lenders. Local entrepreneurs in these areas often work long hours or have no means of transport to a bank branch. Such circumstances reduce their access to financial services.Our microfinance operating methodology is based on a direct relationship between the agent, representing the bank, and the micro-entrepreneur at his place of business. This means the microcredit agent takes the bank to the customer, thereby initiating the process of bringing the latter into the Itaú system. We provide credit, insurance and financial education in regions lacking such services, and we offer assistance to institutions, banks and cooperatives seeking to meet the financial needs of people and companies involved in small-scale enterprises.
